Up to €1,000 more salary without effort or cost to the company? Here's how it works

When employees have more money at their disposal, the company's costs increase. At least that's the rule. But there is one exception: discount platforms. Employees save on their purchases and get more out of their salary. The company has neither costs nor effort. A win-win situation for both sides. But how much do employees really save with this benefit?

Average net savings of €400 - more than €1,000 are possible

A bold statement. And this is how we back up our statement:

We looked at how much money German households spend on each year and created categories. Then we looked at how high the discounts offered for brands in these categories are on FutureBens. Based on these results, we calculated how high the savings per category could be for the sample households from the Federal Statistical Office. This is based on data from the Federal Statistical Office as well as current discount codes and offer pages on FutureBens.

An example profile:

  • Person lives in a two-person household
  • Regularly takes advantage of discounts on food, fashion, care products and mobility offers
  • Buys clothes 3-5 times a year, uses sustainable drugstore products, orders long-life food regularly

Between €300 and €400 more from your annual salary

For the purposes of our analysis, we assume that our example person consumes roughly the same amount as the Federal Statistical Office found in its data on consumer spending by private households throughout Germany in 2022(1).

If we apply the discounts listed on Futurebens, we get the following savings:

  • 10-15 % on organic food, coffee or snacks → approx. 100 € savings/year
    • Discounts on FutureBens: Crowdfarming, HelloFresh, Löwenanteil and much more.
  • 10-25 % on fair fashion → approx. 100-150 € savings/year
    • Discounts on FutureBens: Allbirds, ArmedAngels, Saltwater and much more.
  • 10-20 % on household appliances & tech accessories → approx. 80-100 €
    • Discounts on FutureBens: Schaffrath, Sofa.de, eShoppen and much more.
  • 10-20 % on sustainable care, home office & fitness products → approx. 80-100 €
    • Discounts on FutureBens: ShopApotheke, HappyBrush, truemorrow

Total savings: on average between €300 and €450 net per employee per year. And without any additional costs for the company.

Up to €1,000 is possible

The average savings already show that discount platforms are a real no-brainer. And it's worth using several providers so that everyone in the team can find suitable discounts. We can see the real potential of a discount platform when we look at situations in which we want or need to make large purchases. This could be furnishing a new home, a nice family vacation or a new television. With discounts of between 15% and 30%, we can quickly make annual savings of more than €1,000. That's more than employees save through other benefits such as tax-free benefits in kind.

Conclusion: Discount platforms as a win-win benefit

Discount platforms often fly under the radar. The advantages are obvious. There is no additional expense for companies and no need to create new budgets. A benefit for all budgets. Depending on consumer behavior and preferences, employees can save up to €400 a year.
