About ARKET

The concept of everyday beauty had a significant influence on the modernist Nordic movement in the mid-20th century and was one of the starting points for the development of the ARKET brand. In 1919, the Swedish art historian Gregor Paulsson formulated "Vackrare vardagsvara" (More beautiful everyday things), which became the slogan for a new democratic approach that aimed to bridge the worlds of art, craftsmanship and functional forms to produce affordable and widely available things for everyday use.
