About the Bürgerwerke
At a time when many people are watching helplessly as the climate crisis continues to advance, the Bürgerwerke concept offers them the opportunity to take action themselves. Because every customer can not only easily obtain 100% green electricity from renewable energy plants through Bürgerwerke, but also demonstrably support the respective energy cooperative in their own region with their own energy consumption.
Bürgerwerke is not an anonymous large corporation, but rather a community of more than 50,000 people and over 100 regional energy cooperatives from all over Germany who are working together to promote the energy transition in the hands of citizens. As an independent green power supplier, Bürgerwerke has been supplying citizens' electricity from solar, wind and hydropower and citizens' ecogas from plant residues throughout Germany since it was founded in 2013. The goal: a renewable, regional and self-determined energy supply in the hands of citizens that allows as many people as possible to participate in the energy transition.
