When Third Wave Coffee was still in its infancy, the story of Freund Kaffee began in 2004 in an old factory building. Today, we are delighted to have a modern, glass-fronted roastery in the heart of Germany, which is now run by the second generation: Founders Stefan and Sybille Freund handed over the management to their daughter Helen in 2023.

In our slow roasting process, the green coffee is heated to a maximum of 220 °C and spends around 20 minutes in the roasting oven. In industrial roasting, the temperature is often 400 °C or more - and often less than half the time. The gentle roasting process not only ensures a uniquely complex flavor profile, but also coffees that are particularly digestible.
In our range, you will find specialty coffees for various preparation methods - from portafilter to hand filter to fully automatic machine - and guaranteed something for every taste: whether nutty-chocolaty, delicate-floral or lively-fruity.
